Gastro-intestinal disease in dogs has been the subject of much research in the last few years, most notably in the role that gut microbiota has to play in the disease process and the impact that has on the diagnosis and management of both acute and chronic gastro-intestinal disease.

This learning series with Julien Bazelle includes a review of recent literature to highlight the different approaches to common clinical presentations, treatment of acute disease and the long-term management of chronic enteropathies, which may challenge some long-standing beliefs.
