Practical Internal Medicine: Tapping Into Diagnostics

On this full-day course, the diagnostic approach to three areas of internal medicine will be explored: Anaemia, PUO and polyarthropathies, and pleural space disease.

A large portion of the day will be spent in cadaver-based ‘how-to’ sessions, allowing time to practice effective diagnostic sampling techniques, to get the most valuable information for your patients’ diagnosis. This course will also cover the management of pleural space disease with the placement of thoracostomy tubes, under expert guidance from the lecturer.

• Anaemia in dogs and cats- diagnostic approach
• Practical session covering bone marrow aspiration and core biopsy techniques
• Approach to pyrexia of unknown origin and polyarthopathies
• Practical session on arthocentesis sampling
• Pleural space disease and its management
• Practical session on the placement and management of thoracostomy tubes.
