Vets Urged to Improve Clinical Auditing and Governance
Former RCVS president Bradley Viner said more could be done to raise awareness of the importance of clinical governance in relation to enhanced animal care.
Following the release of data from vetAUDIT – a sub-brand of RCVS Knowledge, which conducted the first major audit of routine neutering of dogs and cats in the UK (VT48.48) – Bradley Viner said:
“While the requirement is already there, it is one many veterinary professionals don’t yet fully understand – and while, when it is explained to them, they are very keen to buy into the principles of quality improvement, because we are all [here] to help our patients as effectively as possible, a lot of clinicians don’t appreciate the link between the two.”
