Henry L’Eplattenier was born and grew up in Neuchâtel, in the French-speaking region of Switzerland and graduated at Bern University. He completed a residency in small animal surgery at Zurich University and has been a specialist in small animal surgery for more than 20 years now. He has worked as a lecturer at veterinary teaching hospitals in Oslo, Norway, and in Utrecht, in the Netherlands before moving to the UK. Since 2006, Henry has been a consultant surgeon in a private referral centre in Essex, VRCC Veterinary Referrals, which is now called Southfields Veterinary Specialists. He became its Clinical Director when the centre joined the Linnaeus Group in 2016.

Henry has been involved in the Examination Committee of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons (ECVS) and is also one of its past Presidents.
