Pattern recognition is one of the stalwarts of clinical practice, but when the situation is less clear-cut, or there are conflicting clinical findings, it is easy to become lost. In these situations, a problem-based approach becomes imperative.
This interactive one-day session will explore some challenging medical cases using this problem-based approach. The cases will be a range of endocrine, respiratory, GI, urogenital and beyond! During the case work-ups we will look critically at clinical pathology, imaging and histopathology results in the quest to make diagnoses and plan treatments – it will be a whistle-stop tour of advanced internal medicine!
The objective of this session is to improve confidence and promote a logical approach when dealing with more challenging medical cases.
Topics to be covered include:
- How to approach cases using problem-based techniques
- Interpretation of diagnostic tests and imaging
- Logical systemic approach for investigation of endocrine, respiratory, GI and urogenital cases
