Vomiting and diarrhoea is one of the most common presentations that we encounter in practice and gastrointestinal disease is a major cause of patient admittance to the hospital, with a proportion of patients requiring advanced and intensive nursing care.  A veterinary nurse’s involvement in these cases can be anything from giving specific advice on the phone through to intensive nursing care of a pancreatitis or septic patient. The aim of this course is to prepare you for it all!

Topics to be covered include:

  • Care plans for gastrointestinal cases, including intensive nursing care
  • How to give specific effective advice to owners
  • Identification and provision of nutritional requirements for gastrointestinal patients
  • Nursing the pancreatic patient
